DREAAM Success Bound Program is a pre-kindergarten to college pipeline (P16) initiative aimed at cultivating academic excellence and positive citizenship. • Provided after school five days per week during the school year

  • Summer Jumpstart and Enrichment

    • Four-week program sessions to provide academic interventions, enrichment and social recreation

  • Increase kindergarten success through a four-week Summer Jumpstart Program to intervene and raise boys' literacy and math skills.

  • Increase reading comprehension and numeracy skills of boys in 1st - 5th grades through out-of-school time learning and interactive activities
    Social Emotional Goals:

  • Develop and strengthen the Six Essential Life Skills

       1. Attachment

       2. Affiliation

       3. Self-Regulation

       4. Initiative

       5. Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution

       6. Respect

  • Cultural responsiveness: Each component is infused with culturally relevant practices that focus on strengths and empower DREAAM boys.

  • Achieving school-readiness: DREAAM prepares boys for school success through summer academic enrichment focused on improving literacy, math, and social emotional outcomes. Plus, the program focuses on out-of-school programming during the school year to expose boys to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education and careers.

  • Promoting prosocial behavior: To promote learning, social emotional learning is also infused in each component. DREAAM’s strengths-based approach requires adults to encourage prosocial behaviors and leadership among DREAAM boys. They embrace the following expectations:

  1. Show respect

  2. Use nice words

  3. Work hard

  4. Be leaders

  5. Be supportive friends

  • Guiding parents to become primary teachers: DREAAM creates parent-focused initiatives (a parent learning community, support groups, social engagement) that support healthy parenting and promoting academic and social emotional success.

DREAAM Success Bound Program is funded by Champaign County Mental Health Board, United Way of Champaign County, First Presbyterian Church of Champaign, Champaign Unit #4 School District, Rantoul City Schools #137, and Altrusa Service Organization.
