OUR COMMUNITY CHALLENGE
Far too many of our Black males are involved and/or impacted by the juvenile justice system. System involvement widens the opportunity gap greatly and often places them directly on the path to prison.
Youth ExCEL is a positive youth development program designed to increase positive outcomes for youth ages 16-24 with a targeted focus on Black males. This is what we know and what we have put in place to close the opportunity gap and disrupt the prison pipeline:
Our young men need jobs.
Our young men need education.
Our young men need support.
Our young men need skill building.
Our young men need access to services.
Our young men need us.
We provide year-round youth employment.
We assist them with completing high school or GED.
We match them with mentors with lived experiences.
We offer evidence-based social emotional groups.
We partner with providers to open doors for youth.
We engage diverse volunteers to support our youth.
